Tool selling $810 worth of limited edition ‘Fear Inoculum’ vinyl box sets
The tool has some of the most diehard fans, and a new item has hit the market that will likely get people excited, but may cause a double take seeing the sticker price. The group has just announced that there will be a Inoculum of Fear ultra deluxe vinyl LP box set available at shows, but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
The band has revealed plans to put this very rare boxed set up for sale at trade shows with a social media post that includes an unboxing video showcasing all of the many details of the items featured in the boxed set.
Tool has traditionally taken great care and dedication in the way they have presented all of their physical releases over the years, so there’s no doubt that this collection will be a premium offering that traditionally goes beyond of its packaging.
“There is breaking news from the band. I just received their personal batch of the next (TBA) INOCULUM OF FEAR ULTRA DELUXE LP, they were inspired to offer this very limited number of pre-presses for sale to TOOLARMY VIP PACKAGE holders (taking advantage of their early merch access) starting with tonight’s show in Philadelphia and expanding to remaining shows in Elmont, Newark, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and so on, or until none are available (prior to worldwide release scheduled for April),” the band wrote in the post.
“Additionally, these first vinyl arrivals (only a tour item at the moment) have been AUTOGRAPHED, adding a personal touch to the cover imagery. The package contains 5 discs of the industry’s finest 180g vinyl, with audio tracks on one side and engraved artwork on the back of each side of the disc.Although quantities are very limited, if any copies are left, they will be made available to viewers at the general merchandising booth.
That should get fans excited, but word has since gone around that the box sets in question sell for $810 during shows. This originally came from a photo taken at the merchandising stand which has since been posted on Reddit. According to a press representative for the group, the box set costs $750 plus venue fees and taxes, bringing the total to $810.
Another fan then posted that a box purchased had already been flipped on eBay, selling for $2,000.
While the Tool ultra deluxe vinyl LP box set is currently only available as a touring item, we’re told it will be widely available in April.
