The Witcher 5 and more teased by CD Projekt Red

While developer CD Projekt Red may already be working on The Witcher 4looks like the studio has plans for The Witcher 5 and more beyond his current project. With the previous Witcher series, CD Projekt Red planned an arc that was told to central protagonist Geralt over the course of three games. And while it seems likely that Geralt still has a role to play in what is tentatively being called The Witcher 4the studio also confirmed that they also plan to release additional titles at a later date.

Disclosed in a new earnings call that took place today, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński made it clear that the company plans to release several new Witcher games in the future. Whereas The Witcher 4 is the studio’s current focus, Kiciński revealed that CD Projekt Red is also looking a bit further down the road and preparing for what could possibly come later in the series.

“We have more than one in mind,” Kiciński said. “The first saga was three games, so now we’re thinking of more than one game, but we’re in pre-production on the first game of the second Witcher saga.”

While it might be exciting to hear that CD Projekt has such big ambitions for The Witcher, it would probably be wise for the company not to get bogged down in what might come next. The Witcher 4. Considering the fact that the sudden launch of Cyberpunk 2077 greatly harmed the stature and value of CD Projekt Red as a studio, The Witcher 4 must be quite a hit for CDPR out of the gate. And while the studio’s future probably doesn’t depend solely on how well The Witcher 4it will be a game that will probably make or break the number of fans who think of the company over time.

are you glad to hear that The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6 could potentially happen long after the release of The Witcher 4? And when do you think the next game in the franchise will be released? Let me know your own thoughts in the comments or hit me up on Twitter at @MooreMan12.
