Explore concepts of cultural identity.

Michael Diamond releases his first album, titled Third Culturevia Vasuki Sound in June.

Drawing on his love of both electronic music and jazz, the record encompasses “ethereal jazz breaks, introspective, sax-driven 2-stroke ambient power, and electronica that tells stories and who builds the world”.

Third Culture also acts as an exploration of cultural identity, as Diamond explains: “My parents immigrated to the UK when I was young and although I loved and absorbed the culture of the UK growing up, I am still considered by many as an outsider.

“On the other hand, when I return to India, I am seen and treated like a Westerner. Over time this has left me with the feeling that although I possess aspects of both cultures, I don’t really belong to either, which leaves me with a fractured sense of identity. cultural.

“My album and Áine’s short story are a grand allegory describing our two experiences as third-culture children through a story of sleep-paralyzing demons and spirals of anxiety.”

Third Culture marks the first release on Vasuki Sound. Led by Diamond and friends, the label will focus on releasing undiscovered talent.
