Speaking about the album, singer Anders Fridén says:

Entering the Abandoned sessions, we wanted to make a record that was heavily guitar-driven, and had a solid base between bass and drums. We’ve always approached our songwriting the same way, as we always have, as a juxtaposition between melody and aggressiveness. It’s the DNA of our music. On the lyrical side of things, there was no shortage of inspirations, especially the notion of time.

Humanity as a whole has been forced to slow down and breathe. During this break, many of us have spent time evaluating and reprioritizing. Time is a constant, but what we do with it and how we perceive it varies. Especially now looking at where the world seems to be heading faster than ever.

It’s crazy that after all we’re still here and on our fourteenth album. I feel like we’ve struck a good balance between past, present and future with Forgone. It’s a new era of In Flames!
